Mark 3:24–25
There are precious few things that my heart loves more than this country. Perhaps only two sit above the Flag. However, the same heart that beats fervently for this country, that loves its growing family, and that cherishes its ever-faithful God, is troubled. I suppose this heart has been afflicted for some time. On September 10th, 2025, my heart became unsettled for its country. This heart fears that the sun is setting on a land once blessed with Amber Waves of Grain and abundant opportunity. This kingdom is divided. How then can it stand?
Once before, the country was divided. Perhaps, in many ways, that historic division is mirrored today. The foundation upon which this land was built has been weakened. Do you not see it? Can you not see the symptoms? Can you not see that, without change, history will repeat itself? Once before, kin fought kin. Anger has replaced grace, suspicion has replaced trust, and self-interest has replaced sacrifice. Once before, blood was shed in the streets.
However, this heart still believes in the hope and promise of this country. Division is, by no means, new to this land. It has persevered through the oppression of slavery, economic hardship, civil strife, and cultural upheaval, time and time again. Each time it has found the path forward, not because it agreed on every single thing, but because it agreed on one particular thing: “That which unites us is, must be, stronger than that which divides us.”
So today, hear this, do not yet let the sun set on Purple Mountain Majesties. Let us not commit the same sins as our forefathers. If blood must be shed, let it not be in violence, but in self-sacrifice. If blood must flow, let it not be of the innocent, but of a united brotherhood. If blood must boil, let it be not with rage, but with loyalty.
To the friend and to the foe, to the Black and the White, to the young and the old, to the citizen and immigrant, to the Liberal and the Conservative, to the tired and the strong, to the rich and the poor, to the Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Atheist, to the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, from Sea to Shining Sea . . .
To my fellow American, hear this: Stand united. For if you remain divided, how will you stand at all?
Turn away from hatred, from violence, from selfishness. Do you not know what is good? Do you not know what is required of you? Do you not know how to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly? It is in this way that O Beautiful will endure with her Spacious Skies and Fruited Plains. It is in this way that Patriot’s Dream will still See Beyond the Years. For you and I are a member of one nation. A unified nation. The greatest nation that this Earth has ever seen, so long as you can keep it.
For God. For Family. For Country.
May the Father shed His grace on thee.
