After the father re-instructed the son in verse 15, he now begins the 4 verse explanation for his reasoning. This verse directly mirrors verse 11. Their feet run or rush to commit evil and to shed blood. In verse 18, the father will illuminate the result of their sinful choices. He warns the son to not join them because they are running, not just to commit evil, but to their own end. The sinners believe they are running toward wealth and material gain, but they are actually running toward their own destruction. This also reinforces the imagery of the path introduced in verse 15. The father warns the son not to walk in the way of sinners because their feet are already running toward evil. The son is being invited to join people who are not wandering down the wrong path, but are actively and eagerly pursuing it.
